The official currency is the US dollar and travellers cheques in US dollars are easy to cash at most shops and hotels. The Bank of Hawaii and Amerika Samoa Bank provide full international banking services with correspondent banks in the U.S. and the Pacific region. Automated teller machines are located at each banking branch. The Development Bank of American Samoa specialises in loans for housing and small businesses.
There is no currency exchange service at the airport, so visitors are advised to bring some American dollars with them.
