Reporting to the Chief Pilot, these positions are responsible for competently and safely navigating vessels into, within and out of PNGPCL managed seaports, Declared Pilotage Areas (coastal) and all conceivable pilotage situations in accordance with best practice standards, legislative requirements and company procedures, together with maintenance of pilotage records, monitoring of vessels, navigational aids and PNGPCL pilot launches and other port facilities and equipment.
Expected Competencies • Have a valid Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency (“COC”) • Hold a Master Certificate that is recognized by either NMSA or a relevant international safety authority • Have a valid Marine Pilot Class 1 License • Have a Standard Training Certificate for Watch-keeping (International requirement) • Have very good knowledge of the Harbors Act, Port Management Regulations and PNG Maritime Acts & Regulations • Awareness of Port Facility Security and Risk Management procedures • Sound knowledge with the Portable Pilotage Units (PPU`s), VTS, Under Keel Clearance and other software application will be an advantage • Must be well versed with Safety standards, practice and procedures • Must be a team player and highly self-motivated • Exceptional customer service and people skills • Proven effective leadership, organization and communication skills. Be computer literate, analytical and have demonstrated problem solving ability and initiative. • Have no criminal record and be a person of proven reliability and integrity.
