Nestled amidst 320 acres of pristine oceanfront property on the island of Kadavu, Fiji, Papageno Resort is a remote, rustic eco-lodge accommodating up to 36 guests. The resort rests on the natural splendor of Fiji, providing an incredible interaction with the beauty of the land and ocean. Papageno Resort caters to active individuals, groups, couples, and families who appreciate a relaxed, off-grid island experience, for a variety of experiences, including diving, fishing, birding, kayaking, hiking, yoga, weddings, and connection with the local culture. We have our own natural water spring and waterfall on property, and extensive relationships with the local villages of Kadavu. 




We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager or Caretaker (either an individual or a couple) to oversee the day-to-day operations of running Papageno Resort.  

This is an incredible opportunity for a rising hospitality leader or couple looking to make their mark on a unique property. 


Core Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit, train, and empower a team of hospitality professionals, promoting collaboration and high standards. 
  • Ensure smooth daily operations and proactively address any issues that impact the guest experience. 
  • Manage all resort bookings 
  • Develop and execute marketing and advertising strategies to attract eco-conscious travelers on a mid-range budget, including utilizing travel advertising and social media platforms, to increase visibility and awareness of the Resort. 
  • Implement sustainable policies that reduce environmental impact and promote Fijian culture. 
  • Optimize financial performance through prudent budget management and revenue expansion initiatives. 
  • Build partnerships with local vendors, artisans, and communities to support sustainable tourism. 
  • Uphold safety and compliance with all regulations and standards. 


  • At least 3 years management experience in the hospitality industry, ideally at an eco-resort. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities. 
  • Passion for sustainable tourism and familiarity with Fijian culture. 
  • Budget management skills.
  • Comfort and capacity with off-grid resort operations is a must.
